The Mainland Premier League SCHEDULE has been released as the traditional hosts are scheduled to finish each other in the first round match on Sunday, October 23, but in the previous games, Simba and Azam will start at home, while Yanga will be scheduled to start away.
Announcing the schedule yesterday, the Chief Executive Officer of the League Board (TPLB), Almasi Kasongo said the league will be launched by Ngao Jamii, August 13 and then the ngwe will start two days later with a match between
Ihefu and Ruvu Shooting and that of Namungo against Mtibwa Sugar.
Simba itself will host Geita Gold on August 17, a day when there will also be another match between Azam against Kagera Sugar and Coastal Union which will invite KMC, in Tanga, but the visitors Singida Big Stars will cut the ribbon on August 16 against Tanzania Prisons in Singida on that day Yanga will play against Police in Moshi and Dodoma City will play against Mbeya Ciy.
Kasongo said the league will end on May 27, stressing that the schedule has taken into account several factors including the CAF and Fifa calendar, along with the Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) and the Mapinduzi Cup which takes place in January.
"During the World Cup, our league will continue because no team gives players starting from three according to the rules," he said.
The home match will be played in the eighth round at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium starting at 11 pm, while there is a memory of the last season when the teams failed to meet each other due to a draw in both matches.
This will be the 109th match for the teams to meet in the Continental League since 1965, while records show that the last time Simba won against Yanga was
Feb 16, 2019 when Meddie Kagere, who was dropped from this season's registration, scored the only goal.
